Staggers
On the last camp we looked at wide open staggers.
Sometimes though the gates in a stagger are not open, but tight.
Tight Staggers
In these tighter staggers we do not have the room to turn above the gate, and keep paddling like the wide staggers.
We want to be well set up for the first gate of the stagger still, but then we need to turn though the gates rather than above the gates.

We can see the lines of the boat in the diagram below
Ways we can turn in a stagger
Here we will look at three ways we can turn through a gate in a stagger.
Bow rudder/Slice
Here we will look at three ways we can turn through a gate in a stagger.
Bow rudder/Slice
Vertical drive through
Sweep
Reverse
Each way of turning has different advantages. Lets have a go at all of them, then in the future we can see what stoke patterns work well in different gate set ups.
